How Does Seed Bead Sizing Work?
Seed beads are typically small beads that are available in a wide range of colours, styles and sizes. They are often used in jewellery making as spacers and within beading for intricate designs incorporating looms or peyote and brick stitch for example.
The sizing is believed to be based on the average number of beads that could fit within an inch so as such the larger the number associated with the seed bead, the smaller the bead.
For example size 6/0 suggests 6 beads would fit within an inch with 3.7mm the actual size of the bead (often rounded to 4mm).
