Ring making is fun, easy to learn and open to endless possibilities; so here you'll find a range of kits to kick start your ring making journey so you can proudly proclaim "I made that!".
Ring Making For Beginners
Ring making can appear daunting to the beginner but most ring designs starts with a shank or the main base that fits around your finger.
Once you have created the base you are then free to explore endless possibilities from simple round bands, stone setting with cabochons or three dimensional designs for example. For the beginner, however, the important aspect is to get comfortable creating a range of ring designs which is why all of our kits contain malleable craft wire which is gentle on the hands and allows you to manipulate shapes more easily.
A mandrel (round cylindrical object with a tapered end) is often used to create the ring shank and reshape existing rings and other useful equipment include traditional jewellery making tools such as round nose, cutting and flat nose pliers.
Typically 6-8mm beads are a popular size for the main focal bead within beginner rings, however, for statement jewellery there are no limits and often seed beads make ideal accent beads within a design as seen in the image above.
