Small or Large Kumihimo Disk?
The size of the Kumihimo disk or board does not affect the size of the final design created so in many cases the plate selected will be based on your personal choice.
Some report that the larger plates are easier to manage, but this largely depends on the dexterity of your fingers and what you find comfortable. The smaller disks do have the benefit of requiring less cord to stretch across the plates for each round, so in that respect tend to be more efficient and are ideal for children or those with smaller hands.
Some also opt to have a kumihimo board in each size and use the smaller disk for projects on the go or for simple projects and a larger disk for intricate projects; particularly those involving seed beads or craft wire; where the risk of the cords tangling at the bottom may be greater.
