How To Wear Hair Beads?
It has long been recognised that beads, as well as being strung in the traditional way, work equally well when adorned in the hair.
Many traditional indigenous communities in Africa and Asia regularly use beads for these purposes and today this style has gained increased popularity around the world.
The main consideration when buying hair beads are to ensure that the bead holes can accommodate the hair, particularly if being applied to a braid or dreadlock for example. In the event that a bead hole does need enlarging, bead reamers are a useful tool for this purpose.
Another consideration is the weight of the bead and how many you wish to use within your hair as materials such as wood, acrylic and aluminium are generally lightweight whilst metal is heavier so may be used more sparingly.
And finally, the important issue of how to ensure your chosen hair beads stay in place. Whilst some may opt for hair glue which can in some cases, damage the hair, we recommend small rubber bands that match your hair colour are applied above and below the bead as they act as a stopper to prevent it from moving when worn.
